Main House

The original 1795 fieldstone manor house has been extensively renovated and enlarged with additions over its 215 year existence and now consists of 10,400 square feet of modern living space with historic detail.

French doors invitingly open from the large courtyard into the entrance hall with a black granite and accented white marble floor. French doors then continue directly to the flagstone back terrace. There are eleven rooms, 4 working fireplaces and a guest bathroom on the first floor. Most rooms have ten foot ceilings with crown molding and fine woodwork and original random width wood floors.

The handsome living room with fireplace and built in shelves has large bay windows which capture stunning views and permit streaming sunlight from its southern exposure.

The large chef’s kitchen with a 10 foot granite island is surrounded by custom cabinetry and deluxe array of fine appliances. An adjacent breakfast room with walk-in stone fireplace, coiffured 10 foot ceilings and arched French doors opens to a morning room and private garden and brick terrace. A large pantry room with built in shelving and copper sink connects to the kitchen.

A beautiful mahogany bar room with a hand-painted, antique wood ceiling provides an intimate setting for entertaining.

The main flagstone back terrace is partly covered by a copper roof and looks over perennial gardens and down toward a year-round flowing stream and exquisitely set oval pool. The 300+ year old ash tree is lighted and has been documented as the largest ash tree in Pennsylvania.

The second floor consists of 8 rooms. It has been reconfigured as a master suite with master bedroom, his and her bathrooms, closet room, laundry room, office and recreation room.

The master bedroom features a large sitting area next to an antique marble fireplace with French doors opening to a terrace providing a long vista of fields and pastures. The ladies bathroom was previously the master bedroom and now beautifully decorated around a freestanding bathtub with granite dressing table, custom cabinetry and marble shower. It is warmed by an original fireplace. The gentleman’s bathroom has an oversized granite shower and is adjacent to a walk-in closet room.

An office with built in shelves and working fireplace is a short distance away. A few steps up is the recreation room, which can be used as a home theater and play room.

There are four bedrooms on the third floor with separate staircases accessing adjoining two-bedroom suites and bathrooms. Each suite provides privacy and would be perfect for children, guests or a nanny.

The unfinished basement contains a maid’s area, laundry and wine cellar.
